It used to be one of my favorite ancient Maya city because it was so easy to get to and climb every structure and roam through the site. Tulum is one of the few Maya ruins with a beach � two, in fact � the ancient structures sitting like sentinels above them. The main beach is beneath El Castillo, at the bottom of a steep wood staircase.
